Giraffage - Be With You.00_00_02_08.Still001.jpg

Are you a student like me or a workaholic in general that needs the existence of a laptop wherever you go?

Do you feel like your laptop is currently too heavy and inconvenient to carry around?

Do you get sore backs and shoulders trying to carry your laptop around?

Fret not, 'cause I found the solution to these problems.

introducing...

Acer Swift 5

Before anything, I just wanna clarify that NONE of my posts are sponsored. I am not paid to make the reviews. I don't make money from them. I just wanted to share HONEST reviews with everyone.

Anyways, we were able to test and try the ACER SWIFT 5 and I think I pretty much wanna invest in them.

I have to find a way to get the laptop somehow!

I made a quick video showing some of the major points of the Acer Swift 5.

Let's get started with the review, shall we!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

So the moment I help the laptop, I couldn't actually believe it either.

It is very very light, felt very fragile and it's like I had to protect it HAHA.

It only weighs at 970G, which makes it weigh LESSER than 1KG.

Now, how cool is that?

Imagine walking around with something so light, you could probably forget you have your laptop in your backpack.

This is the sole reason I'm trying to get the laptop somehow.

WHY IS IT SO LIGHT?

Ahh, earlier I said it feels so fragile but fret not.

Even though it's very light and you must be wondering if the components are working well due to how light it was, don't worry.

They are working PERFECTLY fine. It is still a stiff laptop.

The thing is, the Acer Swift 5 is made up of magnesium alloy and not aluminum.

It's not plastic either though, just a combination of magnesium and lithium which lithium reduces the density of magnesium,

creating a featherweight laptop.

It creates a much more malleable metal without forgetting durability.

DESIGN

The design is very sleek and classy. I like it very much honestly.

The color that I picked to try out was this luxury Rose Gold color one.

It looks so cute and yet manage to look like a high-end product.

At only 15mm thickness, it is still rather thicker than other laptops in the market but still considered the LIGHTEST so far.

It comes in two colors, Midnight Blue and Rose Gold.

I personally feel attracted to the Rose Gold one more cause it looks more elegant to me.

The keyboard has a backlight which is suitable for when you want to work in the dark.

I stay up late most of the times cause I'm a procrastinator but you get the point.

FEATURES

So if the weight of the laptop hasn't wow-ed you yet, then here comes the important part.

The ACER Swift 5 has the 180-degree tilt bracket for when in needy situations where you MIGHT be working with a flat laptop.

Who knows? It'll definitely come in handy for me someday.

Acer Swift 5 features the 8th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU, which works fast and don't leave you hanging with a laggy laptop.

The processor also works with many programs which your laptop now may not be able to support.

It takes on powerful processing so don't worry about the processor now aye?

Next is the 14" full HD IPS display screen which,

is also a multi-touch display screen.

In other words, touchscreen!

I know for sure touchscreen features is very user-friendly for my mom and she always forgets the older generation laptops doesn't have touchscreens.

HAHAHAHA.

Touchsceen feature.

Ah not to forget! The fingerprint scanning feature!

Maybe I'm just very outdated or something but man, this fingerprint thing blew me away.

I just didn't expect even LAPTOPS have fingerprint technology now.

The Acer Swift 5 owns one USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2 port,

two USB 3.1 Type-A ports,

a SD card slot,

a HDMI port,

and a headphone port.

The screen of the laptop also comes in vivid colors and the audio support is the

Acer True Harmony Tech and Dolby Audio Premium Sound.

Which, in other words can produce clear sounds.

It comes in Windows 10 and also has the Windows Hello Technology. You wouldn't need to secure your laptop with passwords anymore!

CONS

Now I've been giving so many pros to the laptop, what are the CONS then?

  • Short battery life. It doesn't last very long as the battery life is only 6-8 hours.
  • Screen backlight power not strong enough! It is only bright enough to work indoors, but if you ever wanna work under sunny conditions then you may need to squint your eyes.
  • Speaker may start buzzing when audio is played at a very high volume

CONCLUSION

Would I buy the laptop if I have the ability to?

Yes. I would definitely buy it for the weight and the battery life doesn't bother me as much because I am used to carrying chargers around.

I'm just really attracted to the lightweight feature of the laptop as I can travel around with it easily!

Retails at: around RM4,083 for the version with a Core i5-8250U/8GB RAM/256GB storage and around RM5717 for the Core i7 version retails.
